In line with the agenda to ensure inclusive and accelerated bottom-up socio-economic development in the Middle Belt Zone of Ghana, the Government of Ghana established a development authority known as Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) through an Act of Parliament, Act 962 in 2017.
MBDA serves as a special-purpose vehicle to eradicate poverty and ensure transformation of communities in the Middle Belt Development Zone (MBDZ) comprising Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East and Eastern regions. The Authority, in addition to enhancing the inclusive development of the aforementioned regions also serves as the agency for the implementation of the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).

To catalyse collective action for sustainable development for all in the middle belt of Ghana through enabling infrastructure, development cooperation, resource mobilization, multi-stakeholder participation, public and private partnership, safety nets for vulnerable, marginalized and less privileged groups.
Vision
A developed middle belt zone with enabling infrastructure and thriving communities where poverty is eradicated, youth are gainfully employed, women, children and other vulnerable and marginalized groups are protected.
