Ahafo is endowed with rich natural resources such as Gold, Diamonds, Timber etc. Gold deposit abounds in large quantities in the Mim, Ahafo, Kenyasi, and Yamfo Areas. Newmont Gold Ghana Limited which is one of the biggest mining companies in the world, currently have their mining operations in the Kenyasi and Yamfo Areas.
Ahafo being one of the forest belts in Ghana has a lot of forest reserves. Timber industry is the second-highest employer in the Region. There are large and medium timber companies scattered across the Region. Notable among the timber companies in the region are Ayum Forest Products Co. Ltd, Exbo wood Co. Ltd, Ocean-wood Co. Ltd, Supremo-wood Processing Co LTD, all in Mim, Ahafo.

Ahafo Region is known to be the bread basket of Ghana. The soil type in the region supports the production of both food and cash crops. The region is known for its large cocoa and cashew productions. The major agro-processing company in the region is the Mim Cashew & Agric Products company LTD located at Mim, Ahafo.
The Region needs more of the agro-processing companies to leverage on its Agricultural produce.

Tourist Sites
The Ahafo region is also noted for amazing tourist sites such as Mim Buo at Mim and Asumura White-Necked Rock fowl Conservation.
Asumura White-Necked Rock Fowl Conservation
Asumura White-Necked Rock Fowl Conservation located in the forests of Asumura near Akrodie in the Ahafo Region, is the home of very rare species of colored birds that are considered as one of Africa’s most desirable birds by birders. The white-necked rock fowl is lanky with a long neck and tail. It only hops and has its mud-built nest built beneath giant hanging rocks.
Mim Bour at Mim, Ahafo
Mim Bour consists of a group of three peaks rising from otherwise undulating countryside. The mountains are located about 390 kilometres (240 mi) northwest of Accra and 140 kilometres (87 mi) west of Kumasi. The area around the mountains has been partially developed into a tourist site.
The site is served by an airstrip located east of the mountains.
According to oral tradition, the tallest of the Mim Bour mountains is the father while the other two are mother and child
The male mountain
The male mountain, at 6.919916°N 2.621084°W, is very steep in nature, and rises to a little over 400 metres (1,300 ft). According to oral tradition, only the first chief of Mim has been able to climb to the summit, and he achieved this by some supernatural powers.[1] Historical account states that, the Paramount Chief used to climb this steep mountain whenever he wanted to address his subjects or spy on enemy incursions. It is said that at the summit, he was able to see all the areas under his traditional authority and even as far as Sunyani, Dormaa Ahenkro, Techiman, and Kumasi.

Festivals
Adekyem Festival
Celebrated by the Bechem people in the month of November. Bechem was formally called ‘Abekyease’ came into existence after Nana Tutu I and his victorious war leaders sat to share their booty or spoils of wars at Abekyese. History has it that the chiefs said, “We shall divide our booty here” (Yebekye mu wo ha), hence the name Bechem. After the Gyaman war with Abo Kofi, the war booty was shared at Bechem and has been called so to date.
Adekyem festival which is an initiative of Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II and Nananom is a development festival through quality and holistic education to replace the ancient area development through wars. During this festival, the chiefs receive donations and gifts to develop education in the area.
